The Music Box is a performance about houses, performed in houses… Based on a series of real/imagined stories of women and their personal connections to their homes, with all the contradictions that these homes represent and all the pains, dreams and desires they encompass, this performance tries to touch upon a common dimension of intimacy, through the medium of the box.

The Music Box was created as a result of dialogues held with a number of women in their homes. The answers and stories were transformed and combined to form a text that recounts the home and the women at home…

Characters of the stories are confused with that of the performer who recounts her memory through others, and the memory of others through her personal stories. From the insides of houses and into deeper ‘insides’, The Music Box constantly tries to create illusions only to destroy them thereafter. In the place where dreams are made and personalities forged, drawers, closets, cabinets, boxes open and spill their insides.
