el matam el mish-masry: asunción molinos gordo (egypt/spain)

March 1, 2014 - 00:00 to June 30, 2014 - 00:00

We are happy to launch our series of installations and interventions that tackle issues of food, agriculture and urban sustainability, as an extension of our commissioned rooftop greenhouse, in our newly renovated kitchen.

Since November 2012, Asunción Molinos Gordo has conducted extensive research into the informal settlements of Greater Cairo, focusing on the shifting export/import agricultural policies of Egypt. Her multi-layered installation 'El Matam El Mish-Masry' consists of an array of polemical menus to induce critical analysis and conversation about food sovereignty.

'El Matam El Mish-Masry' was first conceived in the 'Dokkan' at the Artellwa Art Space, Cairo in November 2012.
