“11Y00” consists of scenes shot towards a possible science fiction film set in the future, or a parallel time, of Shatana. The nearby stone quarry was taken as a starting point, re-imagined as a construction site for an underground hotel without windows. Together with kids from the village, in particular Muhammad Yussef Diab Al-Balawi (who plays the main character), props were entirely fabricated out of locally available materials, including plastic chairs, breeze blocks, a donkey skull. As such the future is imagined through the crude materials of everyday life. The project remains unfinished, and plays as a loop without beginning or end, allowing the viewer to construct their own narratives
