In the face of recent events in Egypt, citizen media has risen as a powerful tool to provide alternative narratives to mainstream media. The two collectives Mosireen and 3askarkazeboon, through their video activism, have helped illuminate and document personal stories and citizen action over the past months, both utilizing online platforms to gather support and raise public awareness.

A selection of these films will be screened, followed by a moderated discussion between Toleen Touq, “7iber” and the audience about the power of collectivity and citizen media for social activism.
