In this conversation visiting Urban Anthropologist Aseel Sawalha, will review the development of thinking around gender and space.
Using Beirut as a primary example, Sawalha will discuss the transformation of gendered public spaces such as cafes and funeral homes from the prewar to the postwar Beirut of the nineties.

Aseel Sawalha is an urban anthropologist based in New York. She is the author of
“Reconstructing Beirut: Memory and Space in a Postwar Arab City.”
